Mission Statement - June 2024
Our movement is one that is socialist in nature, by the people, for the people, and with the people. We live within a system rife with inequality, exploitation, and poverty. This is the natural result of the capitalistic rot that has festered throughout our society. A society where profit is prioritized over people, and capital holds more value than human life. This is why we promote radical change, because without it, America will only continue to serve the whims of the elite.
Additionally, we support liberation through any means necessary for all the colonized nations and peoples of the world. Colonization rots the core of society and through it enslaves and commodifies human beings - it is an unacceptable system we will struggle against. That system turned inward threatens us inside the belly of the beast: militarization of police and the construction of Cop Cities, the privatization of prisons and slave labor, and defunding of social programs in the name of corporate interests. We know this is an uphill struggle against a powerful enemy, but it is a struggle we are willing to take up.
Our Values
As socialists, we seek to build a society that provides quality education, healthcare, and shelter for all. We completely disavow all forms of hate and bigotry, especially amongst our ranks. Likewise, we reject classism and any and all attempts to sow division along socioeconomic lines. Our members come from various economic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, but we are all united against one common enemy that enslaves us all: capitalism. No longer will we be subjected to a system that fundamentally underserves us. We do not accept donor money, we do not work with police, we struggle with the people. We recognize the failures of both Liberals and Conservatives in the struggle for justice within the United States and stand against them.
Our Goals
We are building a diverse coalition of working class people. Our organization follows a non-hierarchical structure, where everyone is welcome and encouraged to take on leading roles. We strive to amplify diverse voices across Paumanok (Long Island) and New York state, particularly those within marginalized groups.
Through community outreach, teach-ins/speak outs, and collaboration with other organizations we will spread our ideas and values, understanding that being one with the people and not above the people is what will achieve true liberation.
Currently, much of our work takes on the form of political education, mutual aid, and protest. Our work is done meticulously and with intention simultaneously analyzing and resolving the many contradictions that come with organizing.
Stay tuned for updates on our upcoming events, book recommendations, and ways to get involved. Together, we can build a better future for Paumanok (Long Island).
